I'm a freelance journalist taking 2018 to travel across the western U.S. and Canada to uncover local stories, as well as explore the nation's natural wonders.
My reporting has appeared in Outside, Backpacker, REI Co-op Journal, Louisiana Sportsman, Mother Earth News, and plenty of other places. I write about the outdoors and environment, particularly hiking, the Appalachian Trail, hunting and coastal erosion along the Gulf Coast.
In 2016, I published my debut novel "Between the Levees." The inspiration came from spending most of my life hunting, fishing and camping in the Atchafalaya Basin not far from my childhood home, as well as my deep appreciation of my Cajun roots. I'm busy at work on my second novel.
If you'd like to hear about another project I'm taking on in 2018 while on the road, check it out here: Medium Okra Blog.
